A/B testing & experimentation

Test new features on real users before you commit. We set up LaunchDarkly Experimentation, connect the metrics your business cares about, and help you read the results so decisions are based on data, not opinions.

What's included

Everything you need, nothing you don't.

How it works

Four steps.

  1. 01DefineChoose metrics and a clear hypothesis
  2. 02InstrumentTrack the events that matter
  3. 03RunSplit traffic and monitor safely
  4. 04DecideRead results, ship the winner

Experiments on the features that matter

Many A/B testing tools only change what a web page looks like. With LaunchDarkly, experiments run on the real feature in your app or backend: a new checkout flow, a pricing rule, a recommendation model or an onboarding screen on iOS and Android. The same flag that runs the experiment becomes the release switch for the winner.

Guarded rollouts protect revenue

Not every release needs a full experiment. For risky changes we set up guarded rollouts that release to a small share of users and watch error rates or conversion. If a metric moves the wrong way, the rollout can pause automatically before most of your customers notice.

FAQ

Common questions

Can we A/B test inside our mobile app?

Yes. Experiments work across web, iOS, Android and backend services using the same LaunchDarkly flags.

How much traffic do we need for an A/B test?

It depends on how big a change you expect to detect. We estimate the sample size and run time before you start, so you know whether a test is worth running.

Do we need a data team?

No. We set up the metrics and walk your product team through the results. If you have analysts, we work with them.

What's the difference between an experiment and a guarded rollout?

An experiment compares versions to learn which is better. A guarded rollout releases a change gradually and stops it if key metrics get worse.
